Below are FAQs to help answer any questions you may have about how Frank’s Gallery can help you to create a beautiful living space. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

What services do you offer?

I offer a full package ranging from a simple touch-up to a full redesign. This include a straightforward refresh without the need to change too much of the interior aspects, putting together design ideas and executing those ideas, carpentry and creative storage solutions, treating and repairing walls with superficial cosmetic and water/ damp damage, wallpaper removal and wallpapering, refurbishing, restoring, repurposing and reupholstering furniture pieces, repairing damaged soft furnishings, sourcing all materials, furnishings and final decorative elements and liaising with other tradesmen when required.

How involved are your clients in the project?

Clients approach me for many different reasons. Some have very fixed ideas of what they want and simply need someone to execute  their ideas. Others want to change their living spaces but have no idea where to start and they need my design input to point them in the right direction. Others only want my design input and then continue to do the work themselves. There are also those who give me free reign and commission me as an artist to create a unique living space for them. The possibilities are endless but for me the most important element of my work is that each project is a creative collaboration between me and my client.

How big is your team?

I do most of the work of myself. The benefits of this for my clients are that they have my undivided attention, focus and energy for the duration of the project. I am always on site, which allows for small and minor tweaks to be made to design aspects while the project is running. If there is anything specific that I cannot do myself, I will source a specialist to do the work.

Can you make structural changes?

A qualified and vetted builder should always make structural changes so that any changes comply with building regulations. My work is cosmetic and not structural.

If any structural changes need to be made to the property, I can help with the layout and redesign of the footprint that can then be handed over to a professional builder. The builder will usually liaise with other tradesmen like plumbers, electricians and gas engineers.

I prefer to do the interior design aspects of a project after the building work is completed.

Do you only work with bright, bold and colourful designs?

Not at all. The projects you see on my website are a select few that I am showcasing. I consider my work to be collaborative, meaning my clients’ input is absolute key to my design ideas. Muted, soft tones and simple shades can be equally impactful compared to bright and bold colourful designs.

I might make suggestions to allow my clients to prompt them to think a little bit out of the box, but I always take my cues from what my clients are comfortable with.

Do you only work in London and surrounding areas?

My clients are mainly from London and surrounding areas. I am happy to look at projects further afield and if it is logistically possible, I will be happy to potentially take on the project.

What is your pricing structure for big interior design projects?

I offer a first free initial consultation no matter how big or small the project is. If a client is happy with the consultation and considers to commission me for the project, I will present them with design ideas based on the initial consultation. For large projects (more than 2 rooms) , there is an upfront cost  per room for the design presentations. The cost will be discussed during the initial consultation.

Once the designs are approved and signed off by the client, I will do a quote on the entire project that will include the sourcing of materials. My quotes are based on the scale of the project and the scope of work it will involve. I will always give a minimum and maximum timeframe for the completion of the project.

On accepting the quote, a 30% deposit is required to ensure that the project is booked and secured at the preferred or available time. The deposit is non-refundable if the client cancels the project within 10 days before the starting date.

On the starting date of the project another 25% of the total amount is required. Half way through the project another 25% of the total amount is required and the remainder of the quoted amount is payable on completion of the project.

NOTE: For smaller projects the pricing structure is different and will be discussed during the initial free consultation.

Do you provide the materials?

I source all materials and I will provide costing for all materials as part of the quote.

For large and extensive projects a retainer is required to cover the cost of the materials. The retainer is payable upfront 10 days before the starting date of the project.

Any discrepancies to the retainer will either be deducted or added to the final invoice. However, this is always a matter of discussion to see what is the most convenient and practical way of moving forward.

How does it work when we are living in the property while the work is being done?

In an ideal world the property should be empty when the work is done. However, this not always possible in which case I will always recommend to tackle the project in phases – room by room. Chunking the project down will also be useful to help with your budgeting.

Most of the carpentry work I do is done on site, which means that I will need space to do the work – in the case of building shelving units or cupboards.

I am always mindful of the fact that I am working in the living space of my clients and will do everything possible to maintain a clean and tidy site.

Do you guarantee your work?

My work is guaranteed the structures I build for 15 years. This includes structural carpentry only and excludes the following:

  • Any damage to third party materials used – bespoke items made by third parties including doors, door handles, work tops, bespoke finishings and items or materials not made by myself but that forms part of the structure built.

  • Any glass used as part of the final structure 1 month.

  • Deliberate damage

  • Damage as a result of natural disaster, flooding or fire.
